Tiny Hearts

Tiny Hearts is evolving.

01Traditionally a service business, teaching parents baby and child first aid.
02Now moving towards apps and products, we've just returned from China sourcing our product line, and we're building an app.
03Tiny Hearts is becoming a more product-led, tech-based part of the business.
04This may change what some training roles look like over time, that's still being worked through, and we'll keep the team in the loop.

Vision & Mission.

Our Vision

Where we're heading

To lead the development and delivery of education and products that empower people in the most critical times in their lives - in an emergency, bringing a baby into the world, or caring for a sick child at home. To be there for our community, and support them throughout life.

Our Mission

How we get there

To be known as the best. To ensure every workplace and every parent feels empowered to care for and save a child if needed. We will do this through our commitment to quality and innovation , and with you, our people.

Our values

Our values.

Our values are our core beliefs, the uniting foundation principles our team understands, works towards, and lives by. They are the behaviours we expect, and the building blocks of our culture.

Value 03

We're agile.

Only dead fish go with the flow. We show up, we look for opportunities, and we own the path to unlocking them. We are solution-focused, and all in or all out.

01All in or all out, never in between
02We seek opportunities, and if it doesn't knock, we build a door

Our standard

The voice in the head.

More than delivering information, it's about embedding knowledge so deeply that in a moment of crisis, learners instinctively turn to what they learned from us.

Instinctive response

Action precedes thought in emergencies

Embedded knowledge

Stays put when adrenaline rises

Structured & memorable

Teaching that survives the room

Expert in industry & influence

Authority and presence

Speak up

Things we do not value.

If you see this, speak up. We are fiercely protective of the magic we've created here, and a supportive, encouraging environment will always remain our biggest focus.

Fixed mindset

Negativity, low energy and low enthusiasm

Lack of innovation to improve or fix a problem

Lack of ownership

Gossip and drama

Lack of respect · Poor work ethic · Not a team player

Our future

Our future.

We're ready to lead the industry, and we never want to be stagnant, boring or slow.

Our People

Focus 1

Building a team that feels like family, attracting, growing and keeping the best people, and protecting the culture as we scale.

Growth & Diversity

Focus 2

Growing and diversifying what we offer, expanding our products, courses and divisions so we're never reliant on a single revenue stream.

Education

Focus 3

Staying the leader in education quality, pushing innovation in how we teach so every learner walks away genuinely empowered.

Products

Focus 4

Building purposeful products that extend our impact beyond the classroom and into people's homes and workplaces.

Culture

Culture.

Some say that as a business grows, culture gets diluted. We've experienced the opposite, our growth has only amplified the heartbeat of our organisation. The amazing, diverse team around us is what we're most proud of.

Time off

HDOs.

How our rostered days off work.

01We call our rostered days off HDOs
02The team works an extra 7.6 hours spread across the month, then takes the rostered HDO
03HDOs are opt-in or opt-out, your choice
04At peak times, full-time trainers shift their HDO and work it. As Training Manager, you take the same HDO as your FT training team, so you're there to support them
05Casual trainers still work on HDOs, they'll message you if something's urgent
06HDOs fall on a Friday
Peak season

December & January are our two biggest months.

01Many of the schools we train do huge numbers in these months, they run all their professional development then
02Our workload is around 10× in both these months
03Because of this, there are block-out periods for leave across November, December, and the first 2 weeks of January
Leave

Leave.

How to request it, and where to record it.

01You're entitled to your 4 weeks of accrued annual leave, plus carers' leave
02All leave is recorded in Employment Hero, including sick leave. If you're unwell, go in and record it
03Request leave as far in advance as possible, minimum 4 weeks' notice
04Always check the annual leave calendar first, so it won't affect business operations
05Remember the Nov–Jan block-out period
06Sick and annual leave also go in a spreadsheet for you and your team, link in your induction guide
Lead from the front

Punctuality.

01We expect you on time, 8am start is optimal
02Lead from the front, your punctuality sets the tone
03If you're running late or unwell, message Nikki
Policies

Policies & Code of Conduct.

Where to park

Parking.

01Park in any car park labelled number 5
02Car parks 1 and 2 are reserved (founders); car park 6 is reserved during cleaning weeks, so if it's your cleaning week, park in 6
03There are 4 visitor car parks (no sign on the fence, towards the end), keep these free
04If everything's full, park on the street or at the gym
Our philosophy

Kaizen, the 1% rule.

Your success will be defined by your attitude towards the small stuff — the things most people overlook, ignore or don't care about. The easiest way to do big things is by focusing on the small ones.

Final stage · Part 01

Getting to know you.

Over the next few slides — a conversation, not a quiz. The more I understand how you work, learn and recharge, the better I can mentor and back you in.

01 · How you work best

How do you work best?

01

When in the day do you do your sharpest thinking?

02

Do you prefer deep focus blocks, or shorter switching between things?

03

What does a great work day look like for you?

04

What drains you faster than it should?

05

How do you like to be held accountable — check-ins, deadlines, autonomy?

06

What's one thing about how you work that people often misread?

02 · How you learn best

How do you learn best?

Watching, reading, doing, or talking it through — which lands fastest?

Do you like the full picture first, or to build it up step by step?

How much repetition do you need before something feels solid?

When you're stuck, do you prefer to be shown, or to wrestle with it?

What's a time you learnt something quickly — what made it click?

How do you like new information delivered — Loom, doc, walkthrough, shadowing?

03 · How you communicate

How do you communicate?

What's your preferred channel for the everyday — Slack, voice notes, in-person?

When something's urgent, how should I reach you?

Do you process out loud, or go quiet and come back with the answer?

How direct do you like feedback — soft landing, or straight to the point?

What's a comms habit of mine you'd want me to keep — or change?

How do you like to be praised — privately, publicly, in writing?

04 · How I can support you

How can I support you?

What does great mentoring look like to you?

When you're under the pump, what helps — more space, or more shoulder-to-shoulder?

What's a strength of yours I should lean on early?

What's something you're actively trying to grow in right now?

What would make you feel safe to tell me you're struggling?

Where in the past have you felt let down by a manager — so I don't repeat it?

05 · Life beyond work

Life beyond work.

What's going on outside work that I should know about?

What lights you up when you're not at HERO?

Anything in the calendar — study, family, commitments — that shapes your week?

How do you recharge after a heavy day?

Is there anything cultural, personal or health-related I should be mindful of?

What's one thing you'd want the team to know about you, that doesn't come up at work?

Over to you

Questions?

Nothing's a silly question. Ask away.

Welcome to the team.
